Article: Wal-Mart again looking at Kanawha City for new store

Wal-Mart has confirmed contacting a real estate broker about a piece of Kanawha City property that could be developed into a store.

The company says it is not considering South Charleston or Marmet for retail stores or distribution centers.

Plans to develop in Kanawha City are in the very early stages, said Roderick Scott, a community affairs manager for Wal-Mart.

"It's far down the pipe," he said. "It's speculative at best [now]."

But he said that's further than any plans in South Charleston or Marmet ever got. Scott termed the idea of putting Wal-Mart stores or distribution centers in those towns "off the table."
