The monkey is off Christian Brand's 3-wood.
The 17-year-old Charleston native won the State Junior Amateur
golf title at Edgewood Country Club Wednesday, avenging an earlier
loss at that same course in May.
And all it took was a three-hole playoff.
Brand, a student at Capital High school, was two strokes down
going into the final round.
"I think the last round I played at the West Virginia Open
prepared me for this," Brand said. "I really felt good out there
today and to tell you the truth, I just felt like I was going to win.
"I never doubted myself."
That's easy for him to say now, after his first junior amateur
