Anyone driving into Kanawha City can immediately see the invitations.

Outside Murad's on 35th street, a sign reads, "Hot Spot patrons: Doors open 8 a.m. Mon-Fri."

The 35th Street Beach Bar across the road has this message displayed on a sign: "Hot Spot customers welcome."

After all, the folks pumping $1 million a month into the Hot Spot's video lottery machines needed somewhere else to go after the parlor was shut down in late September following a lengthy battle with city leaders.

Numbers from the West Virginia Lottery Commission underscore this logic. With the Hot Spot out of the equation, other Kanawha City gambling parlors saw jumps in video lottery revenue last month.
