Crystal Sutphin knows better than most how hard it can be to dig
yourself out of poverty and a bad situation.
A caseworker for the state Department of Health and Human
Resources in Boone County, Sutphin readily offers that she once was
the one asking for help.
"I've come a long way," she said. "I've been here eight years and
before that I was on the other side of the desk."
It's a perspective that gives her unique sympathy for her clients.
Sutphin hopes Daily Mail readers will share her compassion for her
agency's neediest clients. She and dozens of other caseworkers for 15
