Article: Wyoming holds on to paper ballots

Wyoming County will continue to use paper ballots after Jan. 1 while half of West Virginia's other counties will use electronic touch screen voting machines and half will use optical scan ballots.

Counties had until Saturday to decide which kind of voting machines they want.

The federal Help America Vote Act requires each polling place to have one handicapped accessible voting machine by Jan. 1. Congress also required counties that use punch card or lever voting machines to replace them by Jan. 1 or conduct expensive voter education programs.
