Article: West Side schools are worth $18 million: The community is united behind consolidation

THE West Side school consolidation issue continues to make headline news. Residents from the community are united in our request for two schools for the area, preferably one on the flat and one on the hill.

The plan submitted by the Kanawha County school board requesting $18 million for the construction of two new schools on the West Side deserves applause despite skepticism expressed by the board.

Without rehashing the controversy that has so far plagued the matter, residents of the West Side finally stood up and demanded attention and respect like any other community in the valley.
