SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Eric Devendorf had 16 points, Gerry McNamara had
14 points and 10 assists, and Syracuse beat Texas-El Paso 69-56 on
Wednesday night.
Syracuse (12-2) used a second-half rally to break open a tight
game and win its ninth straight in the Orange's first game against
UTEP (7-5).
In games involving ranked teams, it was: No. 4 Memphis 83, Middle
Tennessee 50; No. 14 Maryland 99, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 73; and
No. 20 George Washington 72, Temple 60.
Miguel Ayala led the Miners with 19 points off the bench, and Will
Kimble and Edgar Moreno each had 10.
Demetris Nichols finished with 11 points and Terrence Roberts had
nine points and nine rebounds for the Orange.
