When we asked readers to nominate a favorite recipe for our Desperation Dinners Hall of Fame, Teresa Yates of Kansas City, Mo., didn't miss a beat.

"Our family enjoys many Desperation Dinners recipes, (the cookbook pages have become quite worn from use), but the White Bean and Chicken Chili is hands down our favorite," Teresa said.

"We especially enjoy the mixture of two different beans, and the green chilies and peppers provide the perfect amount of spice.

We often serve it with Garlic Cheese Drop Biscuits (page 330 in the "Desperation Dinners" cookbook)."On a cold night, this is a very warm and satisfying meal."
