Thornton Cooper, the former state attorney now vying for a place
in the Legislature, is decrying the county's hiked cell phone fees as
a legislative mistake that should cost Brooks McCabe his seat in the
Senate.
Cooper, best known around Charleston as the man who fought the
city's user fee, is challenging McCabe in May's Democratic primary
for his seat in the 17th District representing Kanawha County.
Cooper began running radio advertising last week outlining how he
thinks Kanawha County cell phone users are getting ripped off by a
bill McCabe helped draft. The bill, passed last year by the
Legislature, increased the fees charged to cell phone users to help
