Article: James Brown to live on in Clendenin man's act

Bobby Rucker idolized James Brown so much that he committed to gyrate and grind just like the Godfather of Soul.

"The first time I ever saw James Brown dance, it was on TV, and I thought, 'Wow, I've got to do this,' " he said.

Rucker wound up carving out a part-time performance career for himself as a James Brown impersonator - even though he's a 56-year- old white guy from Clendenin.

When he heard of Brown's death this week, he was more saddened than the average music fan.

"I was one of his big fans," said Rucker, a Dow chemical worker. "I couldn't believe it when I saw it in the paper. We lost an icon. We really did."
