When The Vagina Monologues was first performed to a select few off
Broadway in 1997, ticket sellers refused entry to those too coy to
mention the V-word.
Once inside, things simply got worse for any shy, timid souls who
plucked up the courage and made it past the front door. Eve Ensler,
playwright, performer and Monologues writer would ask: "If your
vagina could talk, what would it say in two words? If your vagina got
dressed, what would it wear? What does it remind you of, is special
about it, smell of?"
Not your average night out, and not to be taken as frivolously as
this might suggest, either. For every amusing anecdote or ...
