INFERTILE women who give away half their eggs in exchange for
expensive fertility treatment do not reduce their chances of giving
birth, a study reveals.
The results, to be presented at a conference on fertility problems
next month, also show that women who receive eggs from infertile
donors are as likely to conceive as those who get eggs from women who
have no fertility problems.
The research, carried out at the Birmingham Women's Hospital, is a
boost to the controversial scheme which involves women effectively
selling their eggs to pay for treatment. Some fertility doctors and
moral commentators say it is unethical for an infertile woman to
reduce her potential to conceive by giving away ...
