THE world of further and higher education has changed beyond
recognition in the past two decades, and nowhere has the change been
more dramatic than at James Watt College.
It is the biggest and most successful college of its kind in
Scotland, and also the fastest growing. It is in sound financial
health too, achieving surplus and allowing investment in up-to-date
technology and resources.
Further education is now big business, and James Watt College
turns over (pounds) 34m a year. It enrols 20,000 students a year, a
quarter of whom are full time, and has 7% of the total number of
further education students in Scotland.
