A RUSH to grab a bigger slice of the billion pound British pizza market has sparked a (pounds) 250 million offer for the Pizza Express restaurant chain and rekindled corporate interest in a mouth- watering sector.

It comes as the wider fast food industry faces turmoil with the shock announcement that burger giant McDonald's are to close 175 restaurants worldwide cutting hundreds of jobs for the first time. With uncertainty in the fish and chip shop sector coming from warnings about over-fishing of cod, there seems no doubt that some major changes are on the menu.
