INTERNATIONAL laws on cannabis and its use are based on political
expediency and bad science, and rooted in Scottish history, according
to new research.
Cannabis Britannica, a study by University of Strathclyde history
lecturer James Mills, reveals the importance of the roles that Scots
and Scottish attitudes have played in shaping modern drug policy
across the world.
The work is already generating interest among today's legislators
and the Home Office has requested copies from the publishers. At a
time when Home Secretary David Blunkett has already signalled that a
more relaxed approach to the drug is on the agenda, it has been
suggested Mills's research may be used to strengthen the case ...
