Article: ATTORNEY GENERAL HATCH APPEALS CELL PHONE LAWSUIT TO U.S. SUPREME COURT

The Minnesota Attorney General issued the following news release:

Attorney General Mike Hatch filed a petition today with the United States Supreme Court requesting review of the case, Cellco Partnership v. Mike Hatch which involves cell phone companies challenging a Minnesota consumer protection law requiring them to provide notice and get customer permission before changing the terms of the customer's contract. The Consumer Protections for Wireless Customers Act ("the Act") was enacted in May of 2004 after the legislature heard from cell phone customers that companies routinely changed the terms of their contracts, including the price, without their knowledge or consent.
