They say that necessity is the mother of invention, but on occasion the birthing force is annoyance. Take the aggravation that salesman Mike Spencer used to feel each time he packed for a business trip and had to leave behind his closest recreational companion -- his too big, too unwieldy set of golf clubs.

That predicament led him, about six years ago, to seek the counsel of his friend and business partner, Louisville dentist Charles Vittitow.
