They say that necessity is the mother of invention, but on occasion the birthing force is annoyance. Take the aggravation that salesman Mike Spencer used to feel each time he packed for a business trip and had to leave behind his closest recreational companion -- his too big, too unwieldy set of golf clubs.
That predicament led him, about six years ago, to seek the counsel of his friend and business partner, Louisville dentist Charles Vittitow. "If I had a compact and lightweight set of clubs that I could just throw on my shoulder and carry on the airplane with me," Spencer said, "that would be a great thing to have."
