Article: RENO FIRE DEPARTMENT CAUTIONS PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM MOVING WATER, CHANNEL BANK AREAS

The city of Reno issued the following news release:

The Reno Fire Department is cautioning local residents to avoid rivers, creeks and drainages throughout the area that will see increased flows and potential flooding as a result of storms moving into the region today.

The National Weather Service has predicted periods of heavy rains creating potentially life-threatening danger in and around rivers, creeks and drainages. The Reno Fire Department is urging people to keep back at least 10 feet from the edge of channels where swift-moving waters can erode already rain-soaked banks making them unstable.
