Tyler County authorities say the roughly $1 million they invested in a rail line spur to the Bens Run Industrial Park is already paying huge dividends.
They credit the 4,200-foot rail extension, completed in April, with helping them land a new tenant, Clean Earth, in the industrial park. Another tenant, Proviron America Inc., recently completed a plant expansion in anticipation of getting additional contracts as the result of the rail line.
Development officials said the rail extension was a contributing factor in a decision by a third company, Aleris International, to acquire Alumitech, another of the park's tenants.
