Try this sometime. Ask a perfectly average businessman from a perfectly average place (say, Ohio) to describe a typical New Hampshire manufacturing plant. It's not likely you'll hear the words 'cutting edge' uttered. New Hampshire does bring to mind an image that is, shall we say, more pastoral than high tech.

The reality is, however, in the never-ending race to improve productivity, New Hampshire is in the lead. That's just one of the findings of a two-year study conducted by the Manchester Manufacturing Management Center (MMMC).
