Portocel is to launch a $30 million expansion program of its shipping terminal in Espirito Santo state shortly in order to accommodate the extra output from Suzano Papel e Celulose's new 1.1 million tonne/yr fiber line at the Mucuri mill in Bahia state. Portocel's owners, Aracruz (51%) and CENIBRA (49%) will fund the project. The terminal handled 3.4 million tonnes of pulp manufactured by Aracruz, CENIBRA and Veracel in 2005. The expansion will boost its capacity to 6 million tonnes and will comprise the construction of a third berth at the port, an additional 16,000 m2 of warehouse space and investments in infrastructure such as road links ...
