An unusual alliance of developers, service providers, officials, and elders.
In Cobb County, Georgia, part of the metropolitan Atlanta area, a zoning change made in early 2005 now makes it easier to build housing for older adults in suburban neighborhoods. In Boston, a summit in late 2004 brought together disparate stakeholders including housing developers and social service providers -to brainstorm ideas for creating affordable senior housing.
In San Francisco, community advocates are touting accessible "day healthcare" housing that offers services on the ground floor and apartments for elders above it.
