* The state of Illinois is now reported to be the second largest producer of both corn and soybeans within the United States, ranking just behind Iowa.
The USDA's Annual Fall Crop Summary for 2005 reported soybean production for Iowa and Illinois at 532.65 million bushels and 444.15 million bushels, respectively; corn production was at 2.2 billion bushels and 1.7 billion bushels, respectively.
