Article: COAST GUARD REMINDS BOATERS OF SECURITY ZONE

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Coast Guard, Northwest District, issued the following press release:

The operator of a 15-foot recreational vessel who was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol crossed into the moving security zone of Washington State Ferry Wednesday night.

The ferry had to stop to avoid contact with the encroaching vessel.

Two 25-foot Coast Guard response boats that were escorting the ferry were able to re-direct the vessel out of the security zone. A third Coast Guard small boat towed the vessel to a nearby boat ramp.
