The Ohio Republican Party issued the following news release:
Stating that "He's no Ken Blackwell," the Akron Beacon Journal today became the second major newspaper to endorse Jim Petro in the race for the Republican nomination for governor.
Stating that "record matters"" and "so do policies," the newspaper summarized that "...Petro is the far better choice for Republicans and the state."
