The city of Surprise issued the following news release: Surprise encourages residents to be a part of the storm water pollution solution by becoming familiar with the topic and the tips for contamination prevention.

Polluted storm water runoff is one of the leading sources of water contamination. In Surprise, storm water runoff is mainly transported through streets, curbs and open channels directly to community retention/infiltration basins, parks, washes and nearby rivers. It generally re-enters the water supply through ground water recharge, without passing through a treatment plant.
