Article: Quota divides Allahabad University students

NEW DELHI, India, April 20 -- ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) students remained united against reduction in seats but fell apart on the issue of reservation in the varsity. Several student associations staged protest in support of reservation while others opposed the proposal through demonstration and meetings.

The Arakshan Virodhi Chatra Sangharsh Morcha (AVCSM) burnt an effigy of the Allahabad University (AU) vice-chancellor Prof RG Harshe for reducing the seats and sought lowering of the university fee. A meeting in this regard was organised that was presided over by AVCSM president Abhishek Shukla.
