Franchising is one of the strongest growth areas of the Australian economy and - according to some predictions - will account for 60 per cent or more of the nation's GDP by the end of the next century.
The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics figures show there are already 30,500 franchise outlets operating throughout Australia, of which 24,500 are operated by franchisees. Together, these franchise operations generate $43 billion a year in turnover and employ around 318,000 people. Of the total number of franchisees in operation, almost half joined their franchising systems during the past three years.
