The Georgia Department of Natural Resources issued the following news release:
Georgia's first Youth Birding Competition was held April 23, 2006, resulting in 180 species identified and culminating in a banquet and exhilarating awards ceremony at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield, Ga. The event was coordinated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (DNR/WRD).
"From peregrine falcons in Atlanta, scissor-tailed flycatchers in McDonough, red-cockaded woodpecker at Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge in Round Oak, to black-necked stilts on the coast," said Tim Keyes, WRD Wildlife Biologist and the coordinator of the event. "These rising stars of ...
