Gov. John Hoeven, R-N.D., issued the following proclamation:
PROCLAMATION CYSTIC FIBROSIS AWARENESS MONTH MAY 2006
WHEREAS, cystic fibrosis is a fatal lung disease characterized by chronic lung infections and digestive disorders and is one of the most common genetic diseases in the United States for which there is no known cure; and
WHEREAS, approximately 30,000 Americans and more than 50 North Dakotans have cystic fibrosis, more than half of them children; and
WHEREAS, prompt, aggressive treatment of the symptoms and access to and coverage for medical care are extending the lives of people who have the disease; and
