Article: Chitra charmed by Aishwarya's role

NEW DELHI, India, May 1 -- Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni's novel Mistress of Spices has now been adapted into a movie directed by Gurinder Chadha's husband Paul Mayeda Berges by the same name. The movie was released last week and the author is thrilled with Aishwarya Rai playing the lead character in the film. In a freewheeling chat with Yojana Sharma, she confesses that she had never thought Mistress of Spices would become such a rage. Excerpts from the interview:

You had written Mistress of Spices way back in the 90's. Did you have any idea that the novel will make it this big?
