Article: Child labour can be eliminated by 2016: ILO

New Delhi, May 5 -- Child labour is on the decline for the first time across the globe and if the downswing continues it will be possible to eliminate the scourge over the next 10 years, says the International Labour Organization (ILO).

In an optimistic report titled, 'The end of child labour: Within reach', the ILO states: "The end of child labour is within our reach."

Juan Somavia, ILO director-general, says in a statement: "Though the fight against child labour remains a daunting challenge, we are on the right track. We can end its worst forms in a decade, while not losing sight of the ultimate goal of ending all child labour."
