The Oregon Department of Education issued the following news release:
State Schools Superintendent Susan Castillo announced today that six Oregon students have been named the 2006 Presidential Scholars Program Semifinalists. The Presidential Scholars program was established in 1964 to honor academic achievement and was expanded in 1979 to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the visual, literary, and performing arts.
The Oregon finalists are:
* Megan Amram, The Catlin Gabel School, Portland
* Amy Kwon, Crescent Valley High School, Corvallis
* Jennifer Lo, Sunset High School, Portland
* Wesley Loo, Lakeridge High School, Lake Oswego
