Article: Bill to Amend Internal Revenue Code Introduced by Rep. English

WASHINGTON, May 18 -- Rep. William J. Jefferson, D-Louisiana, has introduced a bill (H.R. 5368) to "amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide for small business tax incentives, to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to increase the minimum wage and to increase the exemption for annual gross volume of sales made or business done by an enterprise."

The bill, introduced on May 11, is being co-sponsored by Reps. Rob Simmons, R-Connecticut, and Curt Weldon, R-Pennsylvania. It was referred to the House Ways and Means Committee and House Education and the Workforce Committee.
