The government of United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence's Royal Navy issued the following news release:
Chief Petty Officer Kevin Shore and his father Peter have both been presented with MBEs by the Queen at the same investiture yesterday, Wednesday 10 May.
It is understood to be a rare occasion not only when two members of the same family are awarded MBEs, but that they are presented to both at the same ceremony.
Although the awards are separate and awarded for varying different reasons, they have one common theme, because both helped launch and fund a charitable clinic providing fresh water for poor people in Nepal. Although Kevin's MBE was awarded primarily for outstanding service with ...
