Article: Connecticut real estate brokerage firm sues Mississippi Real Estate Commission

The Mississippi Real Estate Commission has come under fire from an out-of-state real estate brokerage firm over a newly-enacted rule the firm claims would inhibit its dealings in Mississippi.

PHH Real Estate Services Corp. of Danbury, Conn., filed a civil lawsuit earlier this month against the commission in U.S. District Court in Jackson asking the court to rescind a rule concerning giving portions of commissions to unlicensed people.

The new rule, effective Sept. 9, denies any portion of a commission or other compensation from a real estate deal to anyone who does not have a Mississippi real estate license.
