PORT BLAIR, India, June 1 -- The Andaman and Nicobar Administration issued the following press release:

The issue of standards and regulatory mechanism for ensuring quality bio-fertilizers has been under consideration of the Government. Now the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation vide Notification S.O. No. 391 (E) dated 24.03.2006 has incorporated Bio-fertilizers (Rhizobium, Azotobacter, Azospirillum & Phosphate Solubilising bacteria) & three Organic fertilizers namely Press mud, city compost & Vermicompost in the Fertilizers (Control) Order, 1985. The salient features of Notification are as follows:
