The city of Greenwood issued the following press release:
Lander University officials have announced that The Lander Foundation has purchased the 22.7 acre Greenwood Plaza, the former Rose's shopping center, in the 500 block of E. Montague Ave.
President Daniel Ball said the university plans to construct a state-of-the-art recreation, wellness and sports complex as a private-public venture. The property is located just two blocks from the Lander campus.
"We think it will be one of the most significant events for the university since Lander relocated to Greenwood over 100 years ago," said Ball.
