Balzers (Elgin, IL) will take over the PVD coating operations of Gold Star Coatings, (West Branch, MI) a subsidiary of the industrial tooling group, Star Cutter Co. (Farmington Hills, MI). Through the acquisition of Gold Star Coatings, Bakers is expanding its position in North America. Balzers will assume the function of coating partner for the tool resharpening service centers operated by Star and open an in-house coating center in the gear-tool manufacturing operation of Star Cutter Co.
