Assemblyman Michael Gianaris (D-Astoria) praised the Legislature's agreement to provide tax relief to New Yorkers by authorizing the City of New York to reduce or eliminate its sales tax on home heating costs and to cap state and local sales taxes on gasoline.
The measure involving home heating costs is based on legislation authored by Assemblyman Gianaris earlier this year and would authorize the repeal of New York City's 4% sales tax for all forms of home heating costs, including oil and gas.
