Background: A recent study suggests a protective effect of breast milk against oxidative stress during the first days of life. The finding indicates that an increase in plasma coenzyme Q^sub 10^ (CoQ^sub 10^) levels in breast-led infants could be related to the exogenous supply from breast milk. Therefore, we developed a reliable method for measuring CoQ^sub 10^ levels in breast milk.
