Article: New York Inventors Develop Radio Frequency Electrosurgically-Activated Cutter

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 6 -- Jon C. Garito and Alan G. Ellman, both of Hewlett, N.Y., have developed an electrosurgical cutter instrument of the reciprocating type, and cutter heads for use with such electrosurgical cutters.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel cutter instrument uses radio frequency (RF) electrosurgery and RF energy to achieve the desired cutting action with minimum of mechanical force, thereby reducing the risk of tissue damage due to excessive mechanical cutting action.
