Article: Japanese Inventors Develop Musical Player-Motion Sensing Game System

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7 -- Mitsuhiro Nomi, Satoshi Ueno and Yasuhiro Noguchi, all from Kobe, Japan, have developed a novel game system in which a game player moves his hands to make hitting and swinging motions.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In a game system, instruction marks corresponding to sounds constituting part of a music number are displayed on a monitor, and a game player plays a game by operating a signal generating device by at least one of a hitting motion and a swinging motion at specified timings based on the displayed instruction marks."
