Fifteen Sailors from Sasebo, Japan-based USS Juneau (LPD 10) took part in a community service project June 30 at the Kainan-so elderly home, improving the grounds and extending their hands in friendship to the people there.

The Sailors completed several projects throughout the day, from window work to weed whacking, and were rewarded with smiles from the elderly people.

"Seeing them smile let me know they appreciated us," said Operations Specialist 2nd Class Gerald Rankin.
