1 ABRASIVES | ABRASIFS
Industrial abrasives are materials used for grinding, smoothing, cutting or polishing other materials, such as ceramics, metals, alloys, glass, composites and plastics. Abrasives are bonded to form wheels, bricks or files, or are applied to paper, cloth, vulcanized fiber, nonwovens, stitch-bonded fabrics and foils. Substrates allow the abrasion media (sand, crushed glass, diamond dust, silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, etc.) to be used by hand for precision sanding or to be mounted on machinery for heavyduty purposes.
