Li Chiao-Ping flexes her muscular style

Last week's "Arrivals and Departures" at the H'Doubler Performance Space wasn't my absolute favorite among Li Chiao-Ping Dance concerts, but it came close.

The current incarnation of Li's company looked strong. The repertory was varied and interesting. The opener, "L'Année du Chien," a 1995 piece for three women, honored the Lunar Year of the Dog with clever canine capers - intent, pouncing leaps; foot fixations on all fours, lifting legs; group chases. The soundtrack panted; puppy pics beamed from the backdrop.
