A Dr. Kenneth J. Drobatz at die 2005 American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Forum in Baltimore gave a lecture on pathophysiology and treatment of heatinduced illness. Some relevant points in this lecture are provided below.
Heat illness may represent a continuum from the least to the most severe form. Heat cramp is characterized by muscle spasms resulting from sodium and chloride depletion.
