Gov. Frank Murkowski, R-Alaska, issued the following news release:

What could be better than wall-to-wall free food, fun and games on a summer Saturday at the Anchorage Park Strip? Gov. Murkowski hopes it will be sunny, too.

The Governor's Annual Picnic, a 20-year tradition, will happen this Saturday, July 22 at the Veterans Memorial Park, on the Delaney Park Strip at 9th Avenue and L Street in downtown Anchorage. The theme of this year's Governor's picnic is "Salute to Alaska's Military." The Anchorage picnic is one of three such events being held this weekend, with one in Wasilla Friday, and another in Fairbanks on Sunday.
