New York State Sen. Nicholas A. Spano, R-Yonkers (35th District), issued the following news release:

Sen. Nick Spano (Westchester) today called on the New York State Thruway Authority to discontinue and remove the Yonkers toll plaza for all passenger vehicles.

Senator Spano said, "One of the goals of the State Thruway Authority is to alleviate traffic congestion wherever possible. Removing the Yonkers toll plaza will not only accomplish this goal, but will also enhance safety in the area. The horrific accident that occurred at the toll plaza on July 5th points to the fact that toll plazas can contribute to accidents.
