London, July 27 -- Two recent studies by a team of US researchers reveal that giving small doses of nitric oxide gas to premature babies via their ventilators reduces their risk of brain damage and lung problems.
Researchers believe that the approach could reduce the number of some of the debilitating complications suffered by infants that weigh only about 1 kilogram at birth by approximately 50 per cent.
